Walk N' Wag

​Help us as we raise funds for the Gladstone Animal Shelter who cares for over 800+ animals each year. Proceeds raised from this event will directly help offset medical treatment expenses as well as benefit the health and improved living environment for the animals during their stay at the facility. Enjoy a 1 mile walk with your furry friend and check out the goodies from local dog vendors. This is sure to be fun for you and your companion!

Civil War Muster

The grounds come alive when the 3rd Missouri Infantry holds its annual muster. The lawn of the historic Atkins-Johnson Farm will be dotted with as they enlist, drill, and share with you all what it was like to be a Civil War soldier. Drills will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The 3rd Missouri Infantry is a reenacting unit based around Kansas City, Missouri, portraying and teaching the history of the American Civil War. Established in 1976, the 3rd Missouri is dedicated to the preservation of American Civil War heritage by accurately portraying the Civil War soldier from Missouri.

Cornsense

Find out more about the Big Shoal Farm and what goes into planting, raising, and harvesting the sweet corn later sold at stands around Gladstone MO with the Farmer in Charge. A seed planting demo with the tractor is scheduled. Family Fun for ALL Ages! Hosted by the Friends of the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum.

Afternoon Tea

The annual Afternoon Tea Party at the Atkins-Johnson Farm will be held on Saturday, May 11 starting at 2:00 p.m. Bring your hat and enjoy an elegant afternoon tea on the grounds of the historic Atkins-Johnson Farm & Museum. This event includes an assortment of gourmet teas and delicious refreshments. Ages five and up are welcome. Participants are encouraged to sign up early, as space is limited.

Annie

Bring your friends and family out to watch one of your favorite classic movies at the historic Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum: Annie! This event is free and open to all ages.

Gladstone's Theater in the Park will be on-site during the movie in anticipation of their upcoming 2025 June musical, Annie. Come show your support for free community theater and prepare for their upcoming show by re-watching the 1982 classic.

Storytime at the Farm

Join the Mid-Contienent Public Library story tellers for a special version of Storytime at the Park. This program is geared for children aged 6m - 5 with a caregiver, but all ages are welcome. Storytime will begin at 10:00 a.m. and includes singalongs and a featured farm-themed story.

Yoga on the Farm

Stretch, breath, and relax with a series of morning yoga classes held outdoors at the beautiful and historic Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum. Classes are moved indoors to the Gladstone Community Center for rain.

Big Shoal Vintage Auto Show

View an array of pre-1980 automobiles on the lawn of the beautiful and historic Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum. Enter as a judge to help your favorite cars win or simply stroll through if there are too many favorites to choose! The museum will be open for tours and featuring the special exhibit Sounds of the Nation: An American Music History and a food truck will be onsite, so you can plan a full day of family-filled fun for your Father's Day weekend. Hosted by the Friends of the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum.

Mad Science at the Farm

Mad Science: Take Root & Sprout - Children will learn about parts of the plant, photosynthesis and the ones that thrive at the Farmstead. Each camper will place their very own plant in the special garden provided. A similar plant will be sent home so they can compare their plants throughout the summer.

Mad Science: Nature - Discover the world outdoors by using microscopes to investigate plants, animals and insects and play the role of a naturalist to track animals in the wild.
