Life of a Reenactor

May 28 - September 6, 2014

“Life of a Reenactor” exhibit was designed by museum staff at the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the end of the American Civil War. The exhibit offered visitors a chance to see original and reproduced Civil War-era items and handle objects used by reenactors to make history come alive. Items on display included special loaned items from local reenactors, museums, and private collectors. Among the diverse topics explored were the representation of camp life, dances, battles, and hospitals all created by reenactors.  How can you spot the difference between original and reproduced Civil War items like flags, photographs, newspapers and weaponry?
