Parlor Games: A Family at Play

July 5 - August 25, 2018

Parlor Games: A Family at Play explored the wacky and addicting card and board games of the past. Step inside a Victorian parlor and learn about how families played together and entertained themselves in an era before electronic entertainment. Family play was very important to households, just as it is today.

This exhibit included nearly a dozen replica vintage games that visitors can play together. Games range from 1880s card games to 1920’s board games. Games of skill like twiddleywinks or ring toss test the player’s skill and coordination, other games are just the luck of the dice
